World Cup 2026: Why we beat South Korea 1-0 – South Africa coach, Hugo Broos

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

South Africa coach, Hugo Broos, has explained why his team defeated South Korea 1-0 at the World Cup.

Broos watched as South Africa beat South Korea on Thursday, thanks to Thapelo Maseko’s second-half goal.

The result means the Bafana Bafana advanced to the World Cup Round of 32 and will face co-host nation Canada this weekend.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Broos insisted that his team did really well tactically against South Korea, adding that the opponent could not find the spaces that they wanted against them during the encounter.

“We played really well and created chances. Tactically, we did really well, and the Korea Republic couldn’t find the spaces that they wanted,” Broos said as quoted by FIFA’s website.

“We scored the goal, and then it was 20 minutes with a very high heart rate. What we did in the last five years is amazing.

“When you work together for such a long time, there is a connection, and it is more than a relationship between coach and players; we have become friends. We just have to enjoy this.”
