World Cup 2026: Zlatan picks African team to watch out for in knockout stage

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Former Sweden striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has identified the Ivory Coast as the African team to watch out for at the knockout stage of the ongoing FIFA World Cup tournament.

The former Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain star believes the Elephants can be dangerous, adding that they came with something at the World Cup.

Ibrahimovic was speaking on Fox after Ivory Coast defeated Curacao 2-0 in their final game encounter on Thursday to qualify for the Round of 32 knockout stage.

“They [Ivory Coast] can be dangerous. Is a very good team, they lost against Germany, but that game could have been a draw or even a win,” the former Barcelona attacker said.

“So, it’s not like they came out of the group with one loss because of a bad game against Germany. They played a good game against Germany and could easily get a point against them.

“So, this is a team to watch out for when the knockout stage comes. Whoever plays them has to be careful, of course, they come with something, and what they come with is a lot of credit.”
