World Cup: Mbappe now fourth player to score multiple goals in three consecutive appearances

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

France captain, Kylian Mbappe, is now the fourth player to score multiple goals in at least three successive FIFA World Cup appearances.

Mbappe achieved this feat after scoring a brace in France’s 3-0 win against Iraq last night.

Before the Iraq game, the Real Madrid forward scored a brace against Senegal.

The 27-year-old also scored a hat-trick in the 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup final against Argentina in Qatar.

However, according to OptaJoe, Mbappe is now the fourth player to score two goals plus in at least three successive FIFA World Cup appearances, along with Sándor Kocsis in 1954 (run of four), Guillermo Stabile in 1930 and Lionel Messi in 2026.

Mbappe will now hope to lead France to victory when they face Norway in their final Group I clash on Friday.

Both France and Norway have six points each and are through to the Round of 32 stage after beating Iraq and Senegal, respectively.
