Yobe Hisbah arrests six women over alleged prostitution

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has arrested six women suspected of engaging in commercial sex work during an operation in Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area of the state.

The operation was carried out recently in the Abuja area of Gadaka by operatives of the commission’s Fika Local Government Area command.

The Head of Administration of the commission in Fika LGA, Malam Musa Abari Talba, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the exercise also targeted bars suspected of selling and processing alcoholic drinks.

According to him, Hisbah officials also conducted sensitisation campaigns during the operation, warning residents against activities considered contrary to religious and moral values.

He said the officials preached to residents and urged them to shun acts they considered harmful to the moral fabric of the community and to abide by the law.

Talba said the operation was part of the commission’s mandate to promote peace, discipline and good moral conduct among residents of the state.
