Supporters of the Accord Party governorship candidate in Zamfara State, retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Musa Garba, have expressed concern over the omission of his name from the list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The concern was raised in a statement issued in Gusau on Tuesday by the Coordinator of the Musa Yusuf Garba (MYG) Foundation, Hamisu Sharu Gusau.
According to the statement, the Foundation is seeking urgent intervention by INEC to correct the omission and include the candidate’s name on the relevant official list.
The statement reads in part: “On behalf of the good people of Zamfara State, especially members of the MYG Foundation, we wish to inform the general public, political stakeholders, party members, and the media that the name of the Accord Party governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections, AIG Musa Yusuf Garba (Rtd.), is missing from the list published by INEC.”
The Foundation explained that the Accord Party had formally written to the electoral commission, requesting the necessary correction and inclusion of its governorship candidate’s name in the relevant official records.
It described the omission as a matter of serious concern to the candidate’s supporters and other stakeholders in the state’s democratic process.
The Foundation maintained that electoral records and submissions must be handled transparently, fairly, and in accordance with applicable electoral laws and procedures.
It therefore called on INEC to urgently investigate the matter, verify the party’s records and submissions, and take appropriate corrective action in line with relevant legal and electoral requirements.
The statement further reaffirmed the Accord Party’s commitment to democratic principles, the rule of law, peaceful political participation, and the conduct of free, fair, and credible elections.
The Foundation assured party members, supporters, and the general public that the matter was being pursued through the appropriate official channels, expressing optimism that the commission would address the issue promptly.
It also appealed to the media, political stakeholders, and the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information while awaiting INEC’s response.
The MYG Foundation reiterated its commitment to protecting the candidate’s legitimate democratic rights and ensuring that all electoral matters are addressed transparently, fairly, and in accordance with the law.
