France head coach, Zinedine Zidane, has named former Argentina captain Lionel Messi as the greatest player in the history of football.
Zidane stated this when asked about the GOAT debate and if Messi is the greatest footballer of all-time.
The Real Madrid legend said of Messi, as quoted by Marca, “If anyone still has doubts about the GOAT debate, honestly, that person does not belong in football society.”
Messi is the most decorated footballer in the history of the game at the age of 39.
The Inter Miami forward has won every major trophy, including the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
Messi recently announced his retirement from the Argentina national team after leading his nation to finish second at the World Cup, following their defeat to Spain in the final.
