on his first anniversary as a pastor in the United States, where he said the electoral setback forced him to surrender his plans to God and reconsider his purpose.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“In 2023 I lost an election. And while the experience inspired me in many ways, it also broke my heart into a million little pieces,” he wrote on Instagram.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The entertainer said he turned to God after the election to seek direction and surrender his ambitions.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“When the dust settled, I took those pieces back to God. And I surrendered,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to him, the experience made him question whether he should focus on leadership, entertainment, business or ministry.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, he said he eventually realised that he did not have to choose one path at the expense of the others.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“And somewhere along the way, I realised that I was asking God to choose between things He had never asked me to separate,” Banky W said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“It wasn’t either\u002For. It was all of the above.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that his transition into pastoral ministry had changed his understanding of purpose, saying he now saw his responsibilities as expanding rather than narrowing.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Turns out, God wasn’t trying to put me in a box. He was expanding my assignment,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Banky W explained that he now combines his responsibilities as a pastor and professor with his work as a filmmaker, musician and entrepreneur.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also recalled joking about his possible future in ministry, saying he had previously insisted that the letter “P” in his name, P. Banks, stood for professor rather than pastor.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“I used to joke that the ‘P’ in P. Banks stood for Professor, not Pastor. I guess God heard and said, ‘Why not both?’” he wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The singer also spoke about the challenges of travelling regularly between Lagos and the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area to manage his various responsibilities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“Constantly travelling back and forth between Lagos and the DMV isn’t always easy. But has it been worth it? Absolutely,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reflecting on the past year, Banky W said the experience had taught him that setbacks could lead to unexpected opportunities.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“One year later, I’m reminded that sometimes what feels like the end of your story is really just God turning the page,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">“The election didn’t go the way I hoped. But God’s plans for my life are bigger than the plans I had for myself.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Banky W contested the 2023 House of Representatives election to represent Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in Lagos State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I’ve asked it myself. But the longer I live, the more convinced I am that we are asking for something that does not exist.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>When we ask for balance, we are really asking for the two sides of the scale to weigh the same, all the time. Equal weight to work and home. Equal weight to ambition and rest. Equal weight to the people who need the self and us we are trying not to lose. A scale, perfectly level, held steady every single day.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>But nothing honest works that way.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Consider this: every major system of thought humanity has ever built carries a trade-off; a cost baked into its benefit. Prioritise individual freedom, and you risk the collective; protect the collective, and you constrain the individual. There has never been a framework, political or economic or moral, that delivered every good thing at once with no side effect. That is why no government pleases all its people, and why even the most admired ideas have always had their critics. If perfect balance cannot be engineered into our grandest theories, why do we expect to achieve it in a single human life, lived in real time, with finite hours?\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Balance, I’ve come to believe, is a myth. Not a lie exactly, but a mirage. You cannot give one hundred per cent to everything simultaneously. Something always gives. The only real question is whether you are choosing what gives, or letting it be chosen for you.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>So I’ve stopped chasing balance. I’ve started practising \u003Cem>seasons\u003C\u002Fem>.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>In every season of life, the demands are weighted differently. There are seasons when work must take more. Seasons when family must. Seasons of building, and seasons of recovering. The wisdom is not in holding all things equal; it is in reading accurately which season you are in, and letting your energy follow it without guilt.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Within each season, there is a second discipline, one borrowed from an analogy many will know: learning to tell your glass balls from your rubber ones. Some of the things we juggle are rubber. If you drop them, they bounce. The deadline that can shift. The event you can miss. The email that can wait till Monday. They feel urgent, but they recover.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Others are glass. Drop them, and they crack, sometimes beyond repair. Your health. A child’s childhood. A marriage. Your integrity. Certain relationships and certain moments that do not come round again. The tragedy is how often we exhaust ourselves protecting the rubber balls, answering every message, meeting every expectation, saying yes to everything, while a glass ball slips from the other hand.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Knowing the difference is the real skill. Not balance. Triage. So when someone asks me how I balance it all, my honest answer is: I don’t. Nobody does. What I try to do instead is stay awake to my season, and clear-eyed about which balls in my hands are glass.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Some days I get it right. Some days a glass ball wobbles and I catch it just in time. Some days I let a rubber one fall on purpose, and feel the strange relief of choosing. That, I think, is the most any of us can do. However, be informed that my area, Dutse, has not had electricity for the past two days, and we just got your update here. Please, TCN technical team should accelerate the restoration process,” she wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Another user, Christian, criticised the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), saying residents had endured five days without power.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“If your team put the same energy into being proactive and ensuring our complaints are resolved as you do into updating us, this five-day absence of light would have been sorted out,” the user said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>A user identified as Nazeerah said residents of Area 8, Garki, had been without electricity for three weeks.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We haven’t had electricity for three weeks now. Very, very unfair and overwhelming,” she wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Another user, BLVCKK, complained that customers paying for Band A electricity were not receiving a consistent power supply.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We pay for B and A, and you guys are stylishly giving us one day in, one day out. It is becoming a pattern. I believe this isn’t faults anymore, but rationing,” the user said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Dane Doug, another user on X, also expressed frustration over the blackout.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Freezers are freezing, but there is no light across all the major areas of the FCT,” the user wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Similarly, Mark Itsibor lamented the prolonged outage in Bwari, the Nigerian Law School area, Ushafa, Bmuko and Dutse, accusing the electricity authorities of failing to address the situation.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“What kind of hell have you subjected most Abuja residents to in the last one week? Why are you so careless? There has been no light in Bwari, Law School, Ushafa, Bmuko and the entire Dutse for days,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>DAILY POST gathered that landlords’ associations in Ushafa, Dutse and Kubwa are planning a protest for Monday if the power situation remains unchanged.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Meanwhile, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), in a statement on Wednesday, announced a planned interruption of electricity supply in parts of Abuja to enable it to carry out maintenance at its 132\u002F33kV Kubwa Substation.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to offtake electricity supply to customers in Kubwa, Bwari, Army Resettlement, parts of Dutse Alhaji and adjoining areas during the maintenance period,” TCN said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Also, AEDC on Friday informed customers in parts of the FCT that the disruption they were experiencing was caused by a technical fault on TCN’s 330kV Shiroro-Katampe transmission line.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>In a notice posted on its X handle, the distribution company listed Garki, parts of Apo, Asokoro, Wuse Zones 1 and 2, Wuye, Jabi, Utako, Jahi, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Kubwa, Dawaki, Dutse, Dei-Dei, Suleja and adjoining areas among the affected locations.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>AEDC said TCN’s technical team was working to fix the fault and restore stability to the national grid.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The company assured customers that electricity supply would be restored to all affected areas once the transmission line was cleared.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The development comes weeks after the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, said some electricity consumers had asked him to slow down following improvements in power supply.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Speaking at the commissioning of a three-megawatt solar hybrid power project at the University of Abuja in September, Tegbe said some areas that previously went without electricity for months were now receiving up to 18 hours of supply.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Places that didn’t have light at all for three months are now having 18 hours of light. Some areas called me to say, look, I should slow down, that everything in their freezer is freezing,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He responded that freezers were designed to keep food frozen.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“That is what a freezer is meant to do.
