Richard Ugo Idike, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Martina Obia, Head of Department of Town Planning, Mrs. Esther Nwite, members of the ministry’s management team and other officials.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The inspection team visited areas including Nise Street through Edda Street, Afikpo Road, Lot 3 by Express Highway and Agwu Street, where illegally constructed shops obstructing roadways were removed to restore free movement for pedestrians and motorists.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Idike said the action was necessary to enforce the state’s building regulations and prevent encroachment on public infrastructure.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He also disclosed that residents in several parts of the capital city were directed to clear blocked drainage channels around their properties.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The commissioner stressed that maintaining unobstructed drainage systems was critical to preventing The 300 beneficiaries were selected transparently on merit from across Ogoniland,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Zabbey urged the trainees to take advantage of what he described as a rare opportunity, noting that many qualified applicants could not secure a place in the programme.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“This is a rare opportunity. Somebody else would have appreciated sitting where you are today. You succeeded because you passed through every stage of the process. Take this training seriously so you can position yourselves for opportunities in Rivers State, Nigeria and beyond,” Zabbey stated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He explained that the training would last six months and would focus largely on practical field exercises, warning that absenteeism could affect participants’ performance and eligibility for support provided by HYPREP.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The training is hands-on, with minimal classroom sessions. Missing practical classes means missing critical knowledge because such sessions will not be repeated. The one we have is old. There are new developments that have taken place. We are bringing all our experts together and will develop the state flood master plan so that we can use it,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>On the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, the governor declared that movement would be prohibited across the state on the last Saturday of every month between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., warning that ceremonies, commercial activities and even arriving travellers would not be exempted from the restriction until the sanitation exercise had been concluded.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>On the Judiciary Staff Quarters project, he expressed displeasure over the laxity and nonchalant attitude of the contractors handling the project, saying it was unacceptable for project sites to be deserted by contractors and their workers during peak Appropriate legal action will still be pursued, and this matter will be taken to its logical conclusion in accordance with the law,” he stated.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Wahab stressed that although the Lagos State Government respects citizens’ right to freedom of expression, such rights must be exercised responsibly and within the confines of the law.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“While we acknowledge and respect everyone’s right to freedom of expression, it is important to recognize that every right comes with corresponding responsibilities and legal limits,” he said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He further argued that “the deliberate dissemination of false information and misleading narratives not only undermines the efforts of the Lagos State Government but also diminishes the credibility of genuine complaints raised by well-meaning residents.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Following the government’s clarification, the X user acknowledged that the footage did not originate from Nigeria and confirmed that the post had been deleted.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“It’s been confirmed to have happened outside the country.
