Canada continues to attract foreign workers seeking employment opportunities in sectors ranging from hospitality and food production to technology, logistics, retail and agriculture.
A 2026 guide published by Canada Immigration World has highlighted 10 employers and employer groups that frequently hire foreign workers, particularly for positions that may not always require a university degree. The list includes Tim Hortons, McDonald’s Canada, Fairmont Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Amazon Canada, DHL and FedEx warehouses, Maple Leaf Foods, Loblaw and Walmart Logistics, GardaWorld and P&H Farming.
The guide notes that opportunities can include general labour, hospitality, warehouse, trucking, agriculture and support roles, although requirements vary according to the employer and position.
Here are 10 popular Canadian employers highlighted in the 2026 guide:
1. Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons is one of Canada’s best-known restaurant chains and has thousands of locations across the country.
According to Canada Immigration World’s 2026 guide, the company is among employers that frequently hire foreign workers, particularly for hospitality and food-service positions.
Potential roles can include kitchen assistants, food-service workers, cooks, bakers and restaurant supervisors, depending on the location and vacancy.
Foreign applicants should check individual job advertisements because not every Tim Hortons position is available to candidates outside Canada or supported by an immigration programme.
2. McDonald’s Canada
McDonald’s Canada is another major employer in the country’s food-service industry.
Canada Immigration World lists the fast-food chain among employers that can provide opportunities for foreign workers, particularly in restaurant and hospitality positions.
Available positions may include restaurant crew members, kitchen staff, food-service supervisors and managers.
However, whether a particular vacancy can support a foreign worker depends on the job, employer and applicable immigration requirements.
3. Fairmont Hotels
Fairmont Hotels is part of Canada’s hospitality industry and operates hotels in several Canadian cities and destinations.
The 2026 Canada Immigration World guide lists Fairmont among employers hiring foreign workers, with hospitality-related opportunities such as hotel housekeeping, kitchen and food-service positions.
The hospitality sector remains one area where foreign workers may find opportunities, particularly where employers face labour shortages.
4. Hilton Hotels
Hilton Hotels is another international hospitality brand included in Canada Immigration World’s 2026 list.
Potential roles in the hotel industry can include housekeeping, food service, kitchen support, front-desk and other hospitality positions.
Applicants should, however, confirm whether a particular Hilton vacancy is open to international candidates and whether the employer is providing immigration support for that position.
5. Amazon Canada
Amazon has operations across Canada’s e-commerce, logistics, warehousing and technology sectors.
Canada Immigration World identifies Amazon Canada as one of the employers that frequently hires foreign workers. Positions can range from warehouse and logistics jobs to highly skilled technology and engineering roles.
The type of immigration pathway available can depend significantly on the position. Highly skilled workers may qualify through specialised immigration programmes, while other positions may be subject to different work-permit requirements.
6. DHL and FedEx
DHL and FedEx are major names in Canada’s logistics and delivery sector and are included in the 2026 Canada Immigration World guide as employers with opportunities for foreign workers.
Potential jobs include warehouse workers, package handlers, delivery and logistics roles.
The logistics industry can offer opportunities for workers with practical skills and experience, although applicants must meet the qualifications and legal requirements attached to each position.
7. Maple Leaf Foods
Maple Leaf Foods is a major Canadian food-processing company and has operations in the country’s food-production sector.
Canada Immigration World includes the company among employers hiring foreign workers, with potential opportunities in food processing, packaging and production.
Jobs in the sector can include production workers, food processors, packaging workers and other manufacturing-related roles.
8. Loblaw and Walmart Logistics
Loblaw and Walmart are among the major retailers operating across Canada’s grocery, retail and logistics industries.
The Canada Immigration World guide includes both companies under its list of employers hiring foreign workers, particularly for logistics and support roles.
Potential opportunities can include warehouse workers, stock handlers, order fulfilment workers and other logistics positions.
Applicants should check the specific vacancy and location because hiring requirements can differ between stores, warehouses and provinces.
9. GardaWorld
GardaWorld, a major security and services company, is also highlighted in the 2026 guide.
The company operates in security and related services, creating opportunities in areas such as security support and other operational roles.
The availability of positions for foreign workers will depend on the specific job, location and immigration requirements.
10. P&H Farming
P&H Farming is included in Canada Immigration World’s 2026 list and represents Canada’s agricultural sector.
Agricultural employers can provide opportunities for foreign workers in areas such as farm labour, crop production and related agricultural activities.
Agriculture is one of the sectors in which Canada has established programmes that allow eligible employers to hire temporary foreign workers when they cannot find enough Canadian citizens or permanent residents to fill available positions.
Foreign workers still need to meet Canada’s immigration requirements
Although these employers may recruit foreign workers, getting a job with a Canadian company does not automatically guarantee a work visa.
The Canadian government says employers hiring temporary foreign workers generally use either the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), which requires an LMIA in applicable cases, or the International Mobility Program (IMP) for LMIA-exempt situations.
For employer-specific work permits, foreign nationals generally need a job offer and must meet the requirements of the applicable programme. Where an LMIA is required, the employer must obtain a positive LMIA before the worker applies for a work permit.
Canada has also introduced and updated measures affecting temporary foreign-worker hiring in 2026. For example, certain eligible rural employers can benefit from temporary measures for some low-wage positions between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027.
The federal government also maintains a public dataset of employers that received positive LMIAs. The latest 2026 first-quarter dataset covers employers issued positive LMIAs between January and March 2026.
Prospective applicants should therefore verify vacancies through the employer’s official careers page or Canada’s Job Bank and confirm whether the specific position is open to foreign applicants and whether immigration support is available.
