2026 Ballon d’Or: Organizers list four players who could win two awards

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

France Football, the organizers of the Ballon d’Or, have confirmed that one player can win two awards.

In a statement on Wednesday, they noted that four players will be competing in two categories simultaneously.

“The answer is yes: a player can, in fact, win more than one award at the same ceremony.

“The voting and the nominees for each category are entirely separate,” it read in part.

It added that although it has never happened in the history of the Ballon d’Or, “there is no rule preventing a player from winning more than one trophy.”

The players nominated for more than one award at the 2026 Ballon d’Or include:

1. Lamine Yamal (Men’s Ballon d’Or and Young Talent of the Year).

2. Pau Cubarsí (Men’s Ballon d’Or and Young Talent of the Year).

3. Cata Coll (Women’s Ballon d’Or and Goalkeeper of the Year).

4. Lorena (Women’s Ballon d’Or and Goalkeeper of the Year).
