D’Tigress head coach, Rena Wakama has unveiled her 12-player roster for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, DAILY POST reports.
The team, which will be led by captain, Amy Okonkwo, features a blend of experienced players and emerging talents.
Wakama’s side will be making its third appearance at the tournament, following its previous outings in 2006 and 2018.
Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara are the only players who were part of the D’Tigress squad at the 2018 edition.
The duo will make history as the only Nigerian players to have featured at two FIBA Women’s World Cups.
D’Tigress arrived in Berlin, Germany, on Wednesday for the tournament, which will run from September 4 to 13.
The West Africans have been drawn in Group B alongside Hungary, South Korea and France.
They will open their campaign against the Republic of Korea at the Berlin Arena on Friday, September 4.
The African champions will return to action a day later against Hungary at the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin before concluding their group-stage campaign against France at the Berlin Arena on Monday, September 7.
D’Tigress had a memorable outing at the 2018 edition, where they made history as the first African team to reach the quarter-finals.
