2027: ADC campaign dares APC, tells Nigerians to collect PVCs, defend votes

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), vowing to resist attempts to manipulate the 2027 general election in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The council urged eligible voters not to be discouraged by claims that their votes would not count, insisting that staying away from the polls would only undermine their power to determine who governs them.

In a statement on Friday, the ADC-PCC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the narrative of predetermined election results as a ploy to suppress voter turnout, alleging that it was being promoted by APC agents.

“Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on January 16, 2027,” Ologbondiyan said.

He accused the APC of seeking to exploit public fears about electoral manipulation because of what he described as its poor performance in government, citing hunger, hardship and insecurity.

“The APC knows it cannot win a free, fair and credible election after plunging Nigerians into hunger, hardship and insecurity. That is why it wants Nigerians to believe that results will be written. It is a lie. The era of writing results in hotel rooms is gone forever,” he said.

Ologbondiyan said the amended Electoral Act, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) and increased political awareness among Nigerians provided safeguards against electoral fraud.

“Every polling unit will be protected. Every vote will be counted, and every vote will count. Nigerians are more determined than ever to take back their country through the ballot,” he said.

The council urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and civil society groups to mobilise eligible Nigerians to collect their PVCs and resist voter apathy.

It also pledged that the ADC, under its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would deploy polling agents to every polling unit nationwide to monitor the process, protect ballots and challenge attempts to subvert the people’s mandate.
