The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Niger State, Dr Mohammed Kpautagi, has unveiled former Commissioner of Works, Mamman Musa Bosso, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, declaring that the party will run an issue-based campaign focused on solutions rather than propaganda, intimidation and hatred.
Kpautagi made the declaration at the IBB Pen House, Minna, while formally presenting Bosso as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate.
He said the choice of Bosso was based on his political experience, administrative record and ability to work with others, describing the ticket as a combination of political experience and technocratic capacity.
Kpautagi said the ADC would focus its campaign on issues affecting residents of the state, including insecurity, poor healthcare, education, youth unemployment, road infrastructure and prudent management of public resources.
He said the party would, when the campaign period begins, tour communities across the state to seek the mandate of voters through a peaceful and orderly campaign.
“We want a campaign that is based on issues and solutions, not propaganda, intimidation and hatred,” Kpautagi said.
He stated that fixing hospitals and schools, securing the state, constructing roads and addressing the challenges facing unemployed youths would be among the priorities of an ADC administration.
He also promised a transparent and prudent management of public resources, saying governance should be centred on the needs of the people.
Responding, Bosso described his nomination as a call to service, pledging to work with Kpautagi to provide what he described as accountable and people-oriented leadership.
The former commissioner said one of the priorities of the proposed administration would be to restore the proper functions of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.
He alleged that the current system in the state had allowed one person to control virtually everything, saying government institutions should be allowed to perform their statutory responsibilities.
Bosso said the ticket was committed to securing a better future for the people, particularly youths and children, through effective governance and collective decision-making.
The ADC State Chairman, Abdulhamid El-Waziri, urged voters to elect credible leaders at all levels of government, saying Nigerians need leaders who are capable of addressing the hardship confronting citizens.
Bosso previously served as Commissioner in several ministries, including Works, Youth and Sports, Water Resources, and Budget and Planning under the administration of former Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
