2027: Analyst accuses Gov Nwifuru of using Ezza clan as political ploy

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

A public affairs analyst and Ebonyi State indigene, Paschal Oluchukwu, has accused Governor Francis Nwifuru of allegedly using promises of a future power shift to the Ezza clan as a political strategy to secure support for his re-election bid in 2027.

The allegation was made in a statement Oluchukwu issued on Tuesday while reacting to recent political developments involving endorsement and opposition rallies held by the Ezza Elders Council in Onueke and the Umuekumenyi Leaders Council in Abakaliki.

He described the governor’s promise to rotate power to the Ezza-Ezekuna clan in 2031 as a mere political gimmick.

According to him, “Nothing would have been more reassuring for the great people of Ezza Ezekuna than a physical presence at the so-called second-term endorsement rally at Onueke and a consequent public promise to hand over power to an Ezza man in 2031.”

Oluchukwu, further criticised the Nwifuru administration’s performance, alleging that the state has witnessed limited development since he assumed office and arguing that the 2027 election should be determined by competence rather than zoning considerations.

He urged members of the Ezza community to remain cautious about political promises regarding succession, stressing that political power should be earned through democratic competition rather than assurances from incumbents.
