A public affairs analyst and civil society advocate, Victor Kala, has urged the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Ekiti South Federal Constituency I, Engr. Toyin Zachaeuous, to stop dragging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into the alleged corruption probe against him and allow the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, to continue its investigation without interference ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kala disclosed this during a briefing in Abuja on Friday.
He stressed that the APC candidate should allow the independent probe against him to take its full course without fear or favour.
According to him, the ICPC should not be pressured to discontinue its investigation against Zachaeuous.
“So now, the pressure on the ICPC to step down is uncalled for in a defined case of corruption against Engr. Toyin Zachaeuous.
“So Nigerians must know the outcome of that. This man, these allegations are just, did you do it or not? We are also following it to get his responses.
“I am also aware that several groups, several groups both here in the National Assembly, Federal Capital Territory and in Ekiti have had several press conferences, both for and against.
“It is presenting the Nigerian image in a negative light. How will you be using the name of Mr. President to say, yes, this is Mr. President’s candidate, when he is not qualified in defence of the law? So when you say Mr. President has endorsed illegality, you know what it means,” he said.
