ENUGU — The people of Ikem community in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State have declared support for the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah and President Bola Tinubu, as well as other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
The community made the declaration when the APC campaign team visited Ward 1, Ikem Uno, as part of its mobilisation for the forthcoming local government elections.
The stakeholders commended Governor Mbah for what they described as his developmental strides across the state, particularly the construction of the Owo-Neke-Ikem road.
They said the project demonstrated the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development and called for the construction of another major road linking communities in Ikem to Benue State.
Speaking during the campaign visit, an APC stakeholder and supporter of the party’s chairmanship candidate, Dr. Dave Nnamani, appealed to Mbah to consider the construction of the road through a joint project with the incoming Isi-Uzo Local Government Council administration.
He said the proposed road would run from Ukwumango through Ikem Ogor, Ikem Nkwo, Ashiebo, Odobido Ikem, Odenigbo and Eha-Amufu, terminating at Ahube Water, which he identified as the Enugu-Benue boundary under Legal Notice 126 of 1954.
Nnamani said the project would open up rural communities and create an enabling environment for residents of communities including Odobido, Orene, Ekor and Ishiador to return to their ancestral lands, which he said had been abandoned since 1970 due to hostilities.
He also said the road would provide a link between Ebonyi, Enugu and Benue states and facilitate movement to parts of northern Nigeria.
“We appreciate other developmental projects embarked upon by Governor Mba which have affected many lives in the state. We are going to reciprocate the gesture through our mobilisation to re-elect the governor and other APC candidates in Isi-Uzo LGA,” he said.
Nnamani urged Mba to liaise with the incoming chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Council and consider the road project as part of efforts to advance his administration’s agrarian policy.
The APC chairmanship candidate, Chief Brendan Ani, was accompanied by the party’s candidate for Isi-Uzo State Constituency, Hon. Augustine Nnamani, and its candidate for Isi-Uzo/Enugu East Federal Constituency, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga.
The people of Ikem also expressed support for Edeoga, Augustine Nnamani and Brendan Ani, reaffirming their confidence in the candidates and the party’s leadership.
