2027: Giving Nigerians Buhari, Tinubu for 16 years is foolishness — Sam Amadi

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

A former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, Sam Amadi, has criticised the All Progressives Congress, APC, over its attempt to retain power after eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari and potentially another eight years under President Bola Tinubu.

Amadi said the prospect of the APC ruling Nigeria for 16 consecutive years would amount to “large-scale foolishness” or reflect what he described as a “terrible election political economy.”

He made the remark in a post on X on Monday.

According to him, the APC had already governed the country for eight years under Buhari and was now seeking to secure another eight-year tenure under Tinubu.

“The party that gave us Buhari for eight years wants to give us Tinubu for eight years.

“If it works, it shows large-scale foolishness or a terrible election political economy, as The Economist hinted,” he said.

Amadi’s comment comes as political parties and aspirants intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with the APC pushing for the continuation of its administration beyond 2027.
