…As Natasha says campaign must be house-to-house

ABUJA — The Kogi Central chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has inaugurated its campaign organisation for the 2027 general elections, with a charge to members to take the party’s campaign to the grassroots.
The campaign council was inaugurated in Okene under the leadership of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate.
The development was contained in a statement issued by her Media Aide, Sam Idoko, in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Dr Salami Etudaiye was appointed Director-General of the campaign, while Hon. Alhaji Abubakar Yahaya Karaku will serve as Campaign Chairman.
Other members of the campaign team are Hon. Jacob Ogirima Anebe, Secretary; Hon. Ilyasu Zubair, Head of Operations; Hon. Isiaka Uhuanaye, Head of Technicals; and Hon. Jane Onoba, Head of Welfare.
Speaking at the inauguration, Senator Natasha charged members of the campaign council to focus on winning the election, stressing that victory must begin at the grassroots.
She said the campaign must be taken directly to voters through house-to-house and polling-unit-to-polling-unit mobilisation.
“This campaign must be house-to-house and polling-unit-by-polling-unit. We must reach our people directly, listen to them, engage them and explain clearly why the PDP remains the best platform for the development and progress of our people,” she said.
The senator said the party’s doors remained open to new members, urging supporters to work together to build a stronger political movement in the district.
“We must open our doors for everyone who wants to join this moving train and this winning team. There is room for everyone who believes in the PDP and in the future we are building for Kogi Central,” she said.
She also urged members of the campaign organisation to maintain discipline and unity while ensuring full coverage of all wards and polling units.
“The election ahead will take all of us — leaders, women, youths, ward executives, coordinators, volunteers. We must work as one,” she said.
In his acceptance speech, the campaign Director-General, Dr Etudaiye, described his appointment as a responsibility that required commitment and determination.
“I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude and a spirit on fire. I accept, with humility and with steely resolve, the sacred responsibility you have placed upon me as Director-General of this campaign.
“This is not a ceremonial title. This is a call to battle. I did not accept this assignment to manage a campaign of polite handshakes and quiet meetings. I accepted it to organise a movement,” he said.
Etudaiye said the campaign organisation would reach every part of Kogi Central, including Okene, Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi and Ogori-Magongo, as well as streets, markets, campuses and homes.
“We are not going into this election to beg. We are going in to win and to win decisively,” he said.
He urged women and youths to play leading roles in the campaign, particularly in grassroots and digital mobilisation.
“To our youth: your energy, your digital power, your courage — this campaign will be incomplete without you. Come and own it,” he said.
Etudaiye pledged to lead the campaign with transparency and competence, with a focus on securing votes for the party.
“I will listen. I will coordinate. I will fight for every vote,” he said.
“This is not just a campaign. This is a revolution of hope for Kogi Central. I accept this charge. I embrace this duty. And by the grace of God and the collective will of our people, we shall prevail,” he added.
The Campaign Chairman, Karaku, urged members to put aside personal interests and differences and work towards the collective objective of strengthening the PDP and securing victory for its candidates.
“This is the time for every member of our great party to come together. We must put aside whatever differences we may have and concentrate on the larger objective of building a stronger PDP and securing victory for our candidates,” he said.
Karaku urged the campaign team to promote positive and issue-based messaging while strengthening its grassroots mobilisation.
“Our message must be positive, our conduct must be responsible, and our mobilisation must be strategic. We must convince the people through our programmes, our commitment and our presence at the grassroots.
“Elections are won by organisation, unity and the ability to connect with the people,” he said.
He urged members to work collectively, stressing that every vote, ward and polling unit mattered.
“Nobody should consider himself or herself too important to work with another person. Every vote matters, every ward matters and every polling unit matters. If we remain united, disciplined and focused, we can achieve the victory we desire,” Karaku said.
He also appealed to party members and supporters to promote peace and issue-based politics throughout the election period.
