2027: Mass defection hits Adamawa NNPP as 200 members join SDP

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

At least 200 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, in Adamawa State have joined the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

The defectors said they will support the SDP governorship candidate, Christopher Nathaniel.

Speaking for the defectors, Mustapha Abbo said they decided to join SDP because of Nathaniel’s plans for Adamawa.

They announced their defection when the party unveiled Dr Fauziyah Ahmed Rufai as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

Nathaniel said Rufai was chosen after careful consideration of her experience and capacity to help develop the state.

He said the party will continue to promote unity and focus on issues as it campaigns across Adamawa.

“Her emergence also places a woman in a prominent position on the SDP governorship ticket,” Nathaniel said.

He said the meeting was a chance for stakeholders to agree on unity and issue-based campaigns as the party continues its work across Adamawa.
