2027: Seriake Dickson not working for Tinubu, APC, no division in our party – NDC

Daily Post 31 minutes 2 mins read

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has reacted to reports suggesting that its national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson is working with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, against his own party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During a press briefing held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Saturday, National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas categorically dismissed the claims, emphasising that the party remains united and cohesive.

Cleopas addressed concerns over reports that the NDC had become unusually inactive or was facing organisational challenges ahead of the elections. He noted that the party’s leadership had received numerous inquiries from members, supporters, and other Nigerians seeking clarification on the party’s current activities and direction.

The chairman reaffirmed that the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Executive Committee, NEC, the national leader, and the party’s organisational structures at the state, local government, and ward levels remained steadfastly committed to supporting the party’s candidates.

Cleopas stated that Dickson was not engaged in any collaboration with the APC to undermine the NDC’s presidential candidacy. He further argued that the party’s decision to offer its platform to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso demonstrated the leadership’s commitment to advancing its political agenda.

According to him, “Dickson would never consider supporting Tinubu and the APC. Why would the NDC national leader undertake the complicated and costly process of establishing and registering a new political party when joining the APC would have been a simpler and more financially advantageous option?”

Cleopas called on members of the media to practise responsible journalism when reporting allegations and political speculation, cautioning that the dissemination of false information could create unwarranted suspicion and mislead voters.

He also commended the judiciary for providing the platform through which the NDC was registered and acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), while calling for continued support for the electoral umpire.
