2027: Suspend large gatherings in Kano – Analyst tells Governor Yusuf

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

A public affairs analyst, Abdullahi Muhammad, has urged the Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, to suspend large gatherings in the state to forestall political violence ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

Muhammad advocated safer campaign alternatives ahead of the 2027 elections.

Muhammad warned that the recent surge in ‘yan daba-related violence threatens lives, property, and the integrity of the electoral process.

He said, “We cannot allow political ambition to be paid for in blood and fear by the citizens.

“The scale of violence we have recorded is unacceptable; politicians who fund and deploy ‘yan daba must be held to account,” he said.

His call comes amid a rise in political violence in the state in the build-up to the 2027 general elections.

The current governor, Yusuf, dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, Governor Yusuf’s political godfather and former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, was not pleased with the move.

Kwankwaso is currently the vice-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Democratic Party (NNDP), with Peter Obi as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.
