…unveils AI-powered digital innovations

By Prisca Sam-Duru

Inside the classy expanse of Mike Adenuga Towers in Victoria Island, Lagos, telecoms giant Globacom, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, didn’t just hold an event ahead of its 23rd anniversary. Rather, the digital solutions powerhouse gathered friends, partners and subscribers in Victoria Island, Lagos, to do something bolder and innovative; to challenge a people.

With a bold new brand philosophy, “Never Settle For Less”, Globacom enjoins Nigerians to push for excellence in all their endeavours, a mindset the company described as key to excelling in today’s competitive world.

Product Innovations

Also unveiled were four transformative products designed to elevate the subscriber experience. The four enhanced digital offerings include Glo Café App & “Gloria”. This revamped self-service app debuts a youthful interface, fortified security, multi-channel payment options, and Gloria, Globacom’s first AI-powered voice and text telecom assistant capable of operating in English, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, French, and Spanish. First-time users receive 100GB free, a 100% recharge bonus on every recharge, and special deals like 10GB for N2,500 and 10% extra data on bundles. Next is Magic Data Bundles. This is a market-first innovation offered at N1,600 and N3,500 tiers, guaranteeing standard data allotments plus automatic “Magic Bonus Data” ranging from 500MB to 12GB.

For the Talkmasta Reloaded, the upgraded “6 for 6” tariff plan now awards 6 free minutes plus 100MB of bonus data (a 50MB increase) for every 6 minutes of call time.

Welcome Bonus: New SIM activations now instantly unlock N2,100 in total value, including 20 all-network call minutes, 2GB of data, and a 1-month GloTV Premium subscription. Subscribers can access the new offerings via the Glo Café app or by dialing *312#.

Voices of Resilience

The event also featured compelling personal accounts from prominent personalities who reflect Glo’s relentless drive. Fashion entrepreneur, Mai Atafo recalled stepping away from a secure role as a corporate brand manager to launch his design label. This was a leap of faith that ultimately positioned him among Africa’s premier tailors. “That decision to not settle was scary, but today it has positioned me as one of the best suit makers in Africa,” he stated.

Veteran journalist and broadcaster Dr. Reuben Abati, shared how constantly pushing beyond his comfort zone propelled him to the peak of his career, praising Glo for keeping innovation at the center of its business model. Dr Abati commended Globacom for its commitment to innovation over the years, noting that “innovation is the soul of business” whether in technology, business development, entertainment or other areas.

Nigeria’s music star Chike also reflected on his early days performing to a nearly empty venue, noting that the presence of a supportive media personality inspired him to persevere. Today, his concerts consistently sell out.

The Novel Philosophy

Speaking at the launch, Head of Web 1 Sales at Globacom, Uche Ogwuda, described the new philosophy as a celebration of the resilient Nigerian spirit and a renewal of the company’s core mission.

Ogwuda said, “As Globacom approaches its 23rd anniversary, we gather not merely to celebrate longevity, but to reflect on a remarkable journey and, more importantly, to announce the spirit with which we intend to embrace the future. “Twenty-three years ago, Globacom entered Nigeria’s telecommunications landscape with an audacious conviction that communication could be more than a service; that connectivity could become an instrument of possibility; and that Nigerians deserved not merely access to technology, but greater value from the possibilities it could unlock.

“For more than two decades, Globacom has been part of Nigeria’s story of enterprise, resilience, innovation and aspiration—connecting people to people, businesses to opportunity, ideas to audiences and dreams to possibilities.

Today, we begin a new chapter with a new campaign philosophy. It is more than a communication line. It is an invitation to aspiration; a call to reject complacency, challenge limitations and continually seek what is better. It is recognizing that what is acceptable today must never become an excuse for abandoning what is possible tomorrow.”

He stated further that the “philosophy speaks profoundly to the Nigerian spirit—the resilience to see possibility where others see difficulty, to create where others see limitation and to keep moving forward despite the odds. It speaks to the entrepreneur, the young Nigerian, the professional, the family, the creator, innovator, student, farmer, trader and business owner who believe that tomorrow can be better than today.

“For Globacom, therefore, this is a renewal of intent, a reaffirmation that progress must remain restless, innovation purposeful, value meaningful and excellence an enduring pursuit.”

Ogwuda then averred that “telecommunications are ultimately not about towers and technology in isolation; it is about people. It is about the conversations that sustain relationships, businesses that reach new customers, idea.
