As activities marking the fifth coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, gather momentum, the organisers of the Itsekiri Global Homecoming, IGHC, have announced Overland Airways as the official airline partner for the week long celebration.

The Homecoming, scheduled to hold in Warri, Delta State, from August 16 to August 22, 2026, is one of the major events lined up to commemorate the monarch’s fifth year on the throne. It is expected to attract hundreds of Itsekiri sons and daughters, as well as friends of the Iwere Nation, from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Under the partnership, Overland Airways will provide discounted airfares for participants travelling into Osubi Airport through its Lagos and Abuja routes, a move aimed at making travel easier for attendees.
A member of the Royal Order of Iwere, RoI, and a leader of the Itsekiri Global Homecoming initiative, Mr. Ade Mabo, described the partnership as strategic, saying reliable air connectivity was essential to the success of the celebration.

“We are delighted to welcome Overland Airways as our official airline partner for this historic Homecoming. A gathering of this magnitude requires robust and excellent logistics to bring our diaspora family back to their ancestral home smoothly and safely.

“Overland Airways’ long standing commitment to Delta State and their direct service to Osubi Airport make them the natural partner for this landmark event. Through this collaboration, we are not only easing travel for our attendees but also setting a precedent for strategic partnerships that drive socio economic growth in the Warri Kingdom,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Overland Airways, Capt. Edward Boyo, congratulated Ogiame Atuwatse III on the fifth anniversary of his ascension to the throne, saying the airline was proud to support the Homecoming.

The airline resumed operations to Osubi Airport in 2025 with its Embraer E175 aircraft..
The Itsekiri Global Homecoming is expected to showcase the cultural heritage of the Iwere Nation, deepen ties among Itsekiris at home and abroad, promote investment opportunities and serve as one of the flagship events commemorating the fifth coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri.
