The Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks, ACAMB, has unveiled a new focus on artificial intelligence, AI, digital media, innovation and deeper stakeholder engagement as it marks its 30th anniversary.
President of ACAMB, Jide Sipe, disclosed this at a press conference on the association’s 30th anniversary, with the theme, “30 Years of Shaping Narratives and Building Trust.”
Sipe said the changing communication landscape, driven by emerging technologies and evolving stakeholder expectations, had created both opportunities and challenges for communication professionals.
“While we celebrate 30 years of achievements, we also recognise that the communication landscape continues to evolve.
“Emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital media, changing stakeholder expectations and the increasing speed of information dissemination are creating new opportunities and challenges for communication professionals,” he said.
According to him, ACAMB would remain focused on adapting to these changes while preserving the values that have defined the association over the past three decades.
“Our commitment going forward is to remain relevant, innovative and responsive while upholding the values of professionalism, integrity, credibility and trust,” Sipe stated.
He said the association’s next phase would involve strengthening its professional community and creating greater value for its members, the banking sector and society.
“The next chapter will focus on strengthening our professional community, deepening stakeholder engagement, embracing innovation and creating greater value for our members, our sector and society,” he said.
Reflecting on ACAMB’s 30-year journey, Sipe said the association had evolved alongside changes in the banking industry, technology and the growing importance of communication in building relationships and managing corporate reputation.
“From our modest beginnings, the Association has continued to evolve in response to changing industry dynamics, technological advancement and the growing importance of effective communication in building relationships, managing reputation and fostering trust,” he said.
He added that communication was no longer simply about transmitting information.
“For us, communication goes beyond the transmission of information. It is about creating understanding, influencing perceptions responsibly, strengthening relationships, building trust among the populace and building confidence among our stakeholders,” Sipe said.
He described trust as “one of the most valuable assets any organisation can possess,” noting that ACAMB’s journey had been defined by efforts to promote credible communication, responsible storytelling and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
Sipe said the anniversary was therefore “not simply a celebration of longevity,” but a celebration of “impact, resilience, relationships and trust.”
