The Adamawa State chapter of the Labour Party has suspended four members for alleged breaches of the party constitution and insubordination.
The party accused the affected members, namely Kamalludeen Jibrilla Aliyu, Andrew Adamu, Suleiman Abdulkareem and Tufanus Daniel of being among party members who participated in an unconstitutional plot earlier in the month to remove the party chairman, Jonah Theman Kalpenge, and subsequently shunning a disciplinary committee set up to address the breach.
The four were suspended after the State Working Committee approved their suspension based on a report by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
The party said on Monday that, after investigating and establishing the alleged involvement of the four members in the ‘unlawful’ meeting held at the party’s state office in Yola on August 5, 2026, the committee deemed it appropriate to take action against them.
The State Working Committee emphasised that it found the four members wanting and subsequently constituted a disciplinary committee, which invited them to appear before it on August 8, 2026, to explain their actions.
However, they failed to appear.
“The actions of the members contravene Articles 17.4 and 23.1.3 of the Labour Party Constitution,” the party stated.
