Lagos State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.

Rhodes-Vivour disclosed the passing of his mother in a statement shared on his official X account on Monday.

Announcing the loss, the family described the deceased, née Waboso, as a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother whose life was defined by compassion and selflessness.

The statement read, “With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.”

The family further described her as “the epitome of love,” noting that her legacy of kindness and devotion would remain cherished by those she left behind.

Rhodes-Vivour also prayed for the peaceful repose of his mother’s soul.

The statement, issued on behalf of the family by Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, added that details of the funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.

Rhodes-Vivour, who contested the 2023 Lagos State governorship election on the platform of the Labour Party, emerged as the ADC governorship candidate for the 2027 election after securing the party’s ticket in May 2026.
