A House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency, Aminullahi Mustapha, has resigned from the party and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a resignation letter dated July 5, 2026, and addressed to the ADC Ward Chairman of Magaji B Ward in the Jega Local Government Area, Mustapha announced that his resignation takes immediate effect.
He said the decision followed extensive consultations with his supporters, stakeholders, and other well-wishers across the Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency.

According to him, his decision to join the APC was informed by his commitment to the constituency’s progress and development and his belief that the ruling party aligns with his vision and ideals for a better Nigeria.
“After wide consultations with my supporters, stakeholders, and critical well-wishers of Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency, and due to my unwavering commitment to the progress and development of our people, I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the letter read.
Mustapha, a political ally of former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, expressed appreciation to the ADC for the opportunity to serve under its platform and thanked members for their support during his time in the party.
Following his defection, Mustapha was received by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi alongside thousands of his supporters.
The development is seen as a significant boost to the APC’s political strength in the Jega/Gwandu/Aliero Federal Constituency.
