Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the state Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest all those involved in the killing of Olalekan Oyeyemi, also known as “Emir Ajagungbade.”
Adeleke, who said the incident resulted from an alleged tussle over leadership of motor parks, also directed the immediate vacation of motor parks by warring groups and the establishment of a Park Management System with immediate effect.
The governor further directed security agencies to restore normalcy across the motor parks and ensure the maintenance of law and order across the state.
Adeleke said he would issue an Executive Order for the establishment of a Park Management System to restore discipline and orderliness across motor parks in the state.
“The governor charged the Commissioner of Police to act immediately to arrest all those involved. Law and order must be maintained. There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book,” a statement signed by his aide, Olawale Rasheed, read in part.
The governor called on members of the public to remain calm, assuring them that the government would work to restore peace in all affected parks and areas.
“We will ensure restoration of peace in all the affected parks and areas. The security agencies are under instruction to ensure the sustainability of peace at all costs,” he said. “We are reintroducing the Park Management System. I will soon issue an executive order to give effect to the new management system to manage parks and garages across the state.”
Meanwhile, the Osun State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Oyeyemi in Ile-Ife on September 13, 2026.
The police said they were alerted to an accident around Energy Filling Station, Ile-Ife, after which operatives were deployed to restore normalcy, secure the scene, and commence an investigation.
The Command said it was working to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the shooting, identify those responsible, and bring all persons found culpable to justice.
