Adji Sarr, the beauty parlour worker whose accusations led to the conviction of then MP Ousmane Sonko has called for the reopening of the case.
At the end of the trial which many regarded as politically motivated, Sonko was found guilty of “corrupting youth” but acquitted of rape and making death threats against her.
Ndèye Khady Ndiaye, the owner of the parlour “Sweet Beauté” sided with Sonko during the trial but in a dramatic twist last week, publicly begged her former employee Adji Sarr, for forgiveness, cryptically saying she “understood everything” she went through.
Now Adji Sarr is calling for the reopening of the “Sweet Beauté” case and expressed her dissatisfaction with the court’s decision. “I’m ready for the reopening of the Sweet Beauté case. Justice must be served,” she asserted.
During an online live broadcast, many women expressed their commitment to fighting for maximum legal protection for Adji Sarr, should she return to Senegal to attend a possible reopening of the proceedings. Sarr herself clarified that her security arrangements would be handled exclusively by her lawyers and that she was not requesting any specific assistance in this regard.
This statement comes as the case continues to unfold with numerous twists and turns, most recently marked by the public apology of Ndèye Khady Ndiaye who promised to “tell the whole truth” about the matter soon.
