AFCON 2027Q: Adams assures Super Eagles will recover from Guinea-Bissau setback

Daily Post about 4 hours 2 mins read

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams is confident Nigeria will recover from their disappointing defeat to Guinea-Bissau in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

Éric Chelle’s side suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Djurtus in their Matchday 2 encounter at the September 24 Stadium in Bissau on Tuesday.

The result came after Nigeria narrowly defeated Madagascar’s Barea 2-1 at home in their opening qualifying fixture.

Adams admitted that the players have taken responsibility for the disappointing performance and are already working to correct their mistakes.

“I think there are many factors that happen in the game, but it’s not a game we should lose, and we have to take responsibility for that,” Adams told the Super Eagles media.

“We have taken responsibility for it. It’s a game we prepared very well for. We knew how important it was to us in the qualification phase.

“But looking back, we are already making corrections to what happened in the game. In the game of football, we were on the bad side on that day as a group and as a team.

“We know where our possibilities are and how good we can be when we are at our best.”

Nigeria will face the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in a double-header when the qualifiers resume in November.
