Moses Usor has revealed Moses Simon was the inspiration behind his spectacular strike in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over the Barea of Madagascar.
Usor rose from the bench to score the winning goal for the Super Eagles in the keenly contested encounter.
The LASK of Austria winger drove forward after receiving the ball inside Nigeria’s half and dribbled past two defenders before firing the ball into the net.
The 24-year-old credited Simon for the superb strike.
“I was warming up with Moses Simon when they called me, and we went in together. He advised me to just play my game, and be myself,” Usor told the Super Eagles media.
“He said, if you have the ball and you want to go one-on-one, you can take the risk. He gave me the confidence to play the game.
“I went in with the mentality of taking risk, and showing what I can do. It’s still a surprise to me. I still feel it is a dream, playing at this level. It is still like a dream to me.
“I was like is this me? You know after my goal, I went down on my knees to pray. I really thank God for it.”
