The Afro-Arab Youth Council (AAYC) has joined President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Government and the people of Uganda in mourning the passing of Gen. Rt. Hon. Moses Ali, describing him as a distinguished patriot, freedom fighter, statesman and dedicated public servant whose contributions to the country will be remembered for generations.

In a condolence message issued on Saturday 18th July, 2026 , the Council’s Secretary General, Hon. Dr. Abbas Agaba, paid tribute to the late Gen. Moses Ali for his lifelong commitment to serving Uganda through both military and political leadership.

Dr. Agaba noted that Gen. Moses Ali made immense contributions to Uganda’s peace, stability and socio-economic development, leaving behind a legacy of patriotism, reconciliation and selfless public service.

He particularly recognized his role in Uganda’s peace process, highlighting his leadership of the Uganda National Rescue Front (UNRF) and the movement’s decision to embrace dialogue with the National Resistance Army/Movement (NRA/M).
