Governor also approves implementation of FG-unions agreement

AKURE — Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved a 60 per cent increase in the monthly subvention to all state-owned tertiary institutions in the state.
The governor also approved the immediate implementation of the agreement reached between the Federal Government and university unions in the affected state-owned institutions.
The approvals were contained in a statement issued in Akure on Monday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
Adeniyan said the decisions were part of the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector and improving the welfare of workers in the institutions.
According to him, the 60 per cent increase in monthly subvention is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the institutions to meet their financial obligations, ensure prompt payment of salaries and improve the learning environment for students and staff.
On the implementation of the Federal Government-unions agreement, Adeniyan said the governor had approved its immediate implementation in all relevant state-owned tertiary institutions.
He said the move was designed to address longstanding welfare concerns, boost staff morale and align the institutions with national standards.
“Both approvals take immediate effect from this month,” the statement said.
Aiyedatiwa urged the management of the affected institutions to ensure judicious utilisation of the increased subvention, with priority given to workers’ welfare and academic excellence.
He also called on the unions to reciprocate the government’s gesture by maintaining industrial harmony and focusing on the delivery of quality education.
The governor said his administration remained committed to making Ondo State a hub for quality tertiary education and would continue to take measures to support the institutions.
