Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has pledged to recruit more teachers and sustain investments in education, infrastructure and human capital development as part of efforts to consolidate his administration’s achievements in the state.
The Benue APC Publicity Secretary, Benedict Yawe Alia, disclosed this in a statement on the ongoing Thank-You Tour of the state by the governor.
The governor said he remained committed to delivering people-oriented projects and improving the welfare of the people of the state.
According to him, the administration, having recruited 9,700 primary school teachers, was already planning to employ additional teachers for both primary and secondary schools to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education in the state.
The Governor was quoted as saying that the government would not relent in its investment in the education sector and other areas that directly affect the lives of the people.
“The governor disclosed that after recruiting 9,700 primary school teachers, his administration was already planning to employ more teachers for both primary and secondary schools to address manpower needs and improve the quality of education,” the statement said.
The governor also urged the people of Benue to unite and place the collective interest of the state above political differences, stressing that peace, stability and development required the cooperation of all citizens.
He added that Governor Alia commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to Benue and called on the people to sustain cooperation with the Federal Government to enable both administrations to deliver more development to the state.
The governor’s engagements commenced in Buruku Federal Constituency with meetings with traditional rulers and religious leaders before a session with political stakeholders.
The Chairman of Buruku Local Government Council, Raymond Zege, who received the governor and his entourage, assured him of the people’s continued support and pledged that Buruku would back his re-election in 2027.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Alex Adingi, speaking on behalf of Mbayam, commended the administration’s interventions and appealed for more development projects in the area.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Aii Yenge, who spoke for the people of Tombo, appreciated the governor’s achievements and pledged their support for Alia, President Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.
At Gboko, the governor again met with traditional rulers and religious leaders before engaging political leaders and other stakeholders.
The Chairman of Tarka Local Government Council, Raphael Yenge, welcomed Alia on behalf of the people and commended projects executed across Gboko and Tarka, assuring the governor of massive support.
Also speaking, Elder Atsenda Ishwa, who represented Gboko, and Elder Iortyer, representing Tarka, commended the administration’s achievements and legacy projects while appealing for additional interventions.
The APC State Women Leader, Mrs Helen Agaigbe, alongside women and youth leaders from Gboko and Tarka, assured the governor of their continued support and mobilisation for his re-election.
APC State Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale, thanked the people for their sustained support for the party and the Alia administration, urging them to intensify mobilisation for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.
Former Governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, also urged the people of Jemgbagh to shun unnecessary political distractions and support Governor Alia, whom he described as “their son.”
