American Grammy-winning singer Brandy is set to headline the House of R&B concert in Lagos on December 20, as the Nigerian entertainment industry prepares for the annual Detty December season.

The concert will hold at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, and will mark the opening of a series of entertainment events scheduled for the festive period.

The House of R&B concert will be followed by Coca-Cola Rhythm Unplugged on December 21, Flytime Fest from December 22 to 24, and Flytime Circle on December 25.

Brandy, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, is widely recognised for her contributions to contemporary R&B music. The singer, popularly known as The Vocal Bible, has influenced several artists across the genre with her vocal style and musical catalogue.

Speaking on her scheduled appearance, Flytime founder and Chief Executive Officer, Cecil Hammond, described the singer as one of the influential voices in R&B and said her performance would open the company’s December entertainment programme.

Flytime Chief Operating Officer, Keke Hammond, also said the December lineup would feature six nights of entertainment, with each event offering a distinct experience.

Ahead of her Lagos performance, Brandy is scheduled to perform in South Africa, with concerts planned for Cape Town on December 14 and Pretoria on December 17 and 18.

The singer has had a busy year, collaborating with artists including Ty Dolla $ign, Kehlani and Josh Levi. She was also honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and released her memoir, PHASES, which became a New York Times bestseller.

Her scheduled appearance in Lagos adds to the lineup of international music acts expected to feature in Nigeria during the December festive season, when concerts and entertainment events attract audiences from within and outside the country.
