APC promoting fears to discourage Nigerians from voting in 2027 – ADC

The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged Nigerians not to believe claims that the outcome of the 2027 general election has already been decided.

The council urged eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the elections.

It said staying away from the polls out of fear of manipulation would weaken citizens’ power to choose their leaders.

In a statement on Friday, the ADC-PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, described claims that the results had been predetermined as an attempt to discourage Nigerians from voting.

“Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on January 16, 2027,” Ologbondiyan said.

“The APC is promoting fears of election manipulation to discourage Nigerians from coming out to vote in the 2027 general election,” Ologbondiyan said.

Ologbondiyan also criticised the APC-led government over what he described as its failure to address hunger, economic hardship and insecurity.

He said the APC was trying to make Nigerians believe that the 2027 election results would be manipulated because of its alleged failure to address hunger, economic hardship and insecurity.

The ADC campaign council said the amended Electoral Act, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV) and growing political awareness among Nigerians could help protect the electoral process.

“Every polling unit will be protected. Every vote will be counted, and every vote will count,” Ologbondiyan said.

The council called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and civil society groups to encourage eligible voters to collect their PVCs and guard against voter apathy.

It also pledged that the ADC, under its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would deploy polling agents to polling units across the country to monitor voting, protect ballots and challenge alleged attempts to undermine the people’s choice.
