Army declares soldier wanted [PHOTOS]

The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, NAOC, has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko, the Corps said preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.

According to the statement, the appropriate military authorities have declared Amutu wanted, while efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him for a full investigation and disciplinary action in line with existing military laws.

The Army said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, indiscipline, or any act capable of compromising its operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation, or threatening national security.

It warned that any personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorized sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.

The Corps appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.

The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and those found culpable held accountable.
