The death toll among recruits of Intake- 40 of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has risen to 4, the latest casualty being one Mamudou Nyabally, from Niamina Jareng.
In a statement shared with The Standard, the army confirmed Nyabally died on Friday, September 18 at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital.
He was reportedly the last of the recruits who had remained under critical condition and medical observation following the deaths of three other recruits who died during the fitness training .The actual cause of their deaths is being investigated.
