Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians during separate operations in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement posted on X on Thursday.

In Sokoto, troops on patrol in Isa Local Government Area encountered a terrorist ambush on Wednesday but responded and forced the attackers to flee.

Five civilians were rescued during the encounter and later reunited with their families, while two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists were recovered.

In Kebbi, troops acting on intelligence about three kidnapped victims conducted a search-and-rescue operation in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area on Tuesday, rescuing all three victims.

The victims were profiled and handed over to the appropriate local authorities.

Similarly, troops responding to reported terrorist activity in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Tuesday forced the attackers to flee, leading to the rescue of two captives.

The two victims, who sustained gunshot wounds during their captivity, were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.

The Joint Task Force said efforts were ongoing to track and neutralise the fleeing terrorists.

It urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and protect lives and property.
