Ballon d’Or: Ferré speaks on Real Madrid president, Perez trying to influence who wins

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Former Ballon d’Or chief, Pascal Ferré has denied rumours that Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez tried to influence who won the award in the past.

Ferré, who was in charge between 1996 and 2003, however, admitted that Pérez loves his players to win the award.

Speaking with Portuguese newspaper, Record, he said: “Pérez loves this award, but he has never sent me any message or hinted at anything indirectly.

“But, on the other hand, it happened with the agent of one of the players.”

Eight different players have won the Ballon d’Or while playing for Real Madrid, combining for a total of 12 awards.

They include Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Luka Modrić, Ronaldo Nazário and Luís Figo.
