Bandits imposing taxes on farmers to plant, harvest in Northern Nigeria — ACF

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, hasraised an alarm that bandits and terrorists are imposing taxes on farmers in the Northern part of the country.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Forum, Professor Tukur Baba, exposed the situation on Saturday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’.

He was reacting to the upsurge of insecurity bedevilling Nigeria and the North in particular, lamenting that farmers also pay bandits to harvest their crops from the farm.

“Bandits are not only imposing taxes on farmers for access to their farms, farmers are also paying to harvest their crops.

“When the news from the world food programme came out, most of us were not surprised.

“The Arewa Consultative Forum for the last few years has been drawing attention to the dire socioeconomic challenges facing the population.

“Government needs to attack the fundamentals of insecurity and show supremacy,” he said.
