Bandits kill police inspector during attack on  travellers in Katsina

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Suspected bandits have reportedly killed a police inspector after attacking travellers in the Shagari area of Katsina State.

According to a post by Bakatsine on X, the armed men were sighted moving through farmlands early in the morning towards Sanyin Nawal village.

He said the bandits reportedly stopped some vehicles and robbed travellers before bathing at a nearby pond, eating food and drinking Maltina.

The attackers later allegedly set a motorcycle ablaze before passing through villages around the Sanyin Nawal community.

Bakatsine added that the bandits encountered a passenger vehicle while returning in the evening, around Maghrib, and opened fire.

He identified the police officer killed in the attack as Inspector Isah Muhammad Girkau, who was reportedly hit by a bullet and died from his injuries.

Some roads, particularly those leading to rural communities in Katsina State, have remained vulnerable to bandit attacks despite ongoing security operations.
