KAROTA hands over suspected stolen truck to Kano police

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has handed over a suspected stolen mini truck, popularly known as “Kurkura,” to the Jakara Division of the Kano State Police Command.

The vehicle was recovered on Monday during a night patrol after KAROTA personnel reportedly encountered suspected thieves attempting to tow it away at about 4am.

According to the agency, the driver of the towing vehicle fled when the patrol team stopped them, cutting the rope attached to the mini truck and leaving another suspect inside the vehicle.

The patrol team, led by the officer in charge of night operations, General Abubakar H. Muhammad (A.H.), questioned the suspect about why the vehicle was being towed at such an unusual hour.

KAROTA said the suspect could not provide a satisfactory explanation and later fled, abandoning the mini truck at the scene.

“The patrol team took the vehicle to the KAROTA headquarters for safekeeping, following a police report on its disappearance on September 24, 2026.”

At the handover ceremony, the KAROTA Managing Director, Faisal Mahmud Kabir, represented by the Director of Personnel Management, Mahmud M. Haido, commended the patrol team for recovering the vehicle.

Haido said the team members remained committed to their duties despite an alleged attempt by the driver of the towing vehicle to offer them gratification.

He urged the personnel to maintain the same level of discipline and integrity in carrying out their responsibilities.

Kabir also assured KAROTA personnel of continued support from the agency’s management through the provision of the equipment and facilities needed to perform their duties effectively.

The Chairman of the Kano State chapter of the Mini Truck Drivers Association, Sani Abdulladif Kofar Na’isa, also praised the patrol team for its efforts in recovering the vehicle.

The recovered mini truck is expected to be released to its owner after the completion of the necessary police procedures.
