The Balmoral Convention Centre at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, was electrified on Friday, July 31, as Chaos in the Ring made a triumphant return. The event delivered a spectacular night of elite professional boxing, underscoring its reputation as the premier platform for African pugilism. Among the night’s most notable victors were Basit “Joker Boy” Adebayo, Yusuf Adeniji, Suleiman Jafaru, Michael Babalola, and Shiloh “Sugar Shy” Defreitas.

The standout performance of the evening belonged to Basit “Joker Boy” Adebayo, who dominated Said Mohamed Hassan from the opening bell. Adebayo secured a decisive stoppage victory in the second round, despite originally predicting a fifth-round finish.

“First of all, I want to thank Allah,” Adebayo stated post-match. “I didn’t know round two was the round. I promised him round five. I prepared for this fight, and I was determined to face off with him.” Confident in his trajectory, the rising star added, “I’m ready to be the face of Nigeria. I think I am currently the face of boxing in Nigeria.”

The event’s biggest upset came from Suleiman Jafaru, who stunned the crowd with a spectacular knockout victory over former British super-welterweight champion Samuel Antwi. In immediate recognition of this milestone performance, Balmoral Promotions awarded Jafaru a promotional contract. Furthermore, headline sponsor EV Automobiles presented him with a brand-new electric vehicle, illustrating the platform’s commitment to changing the lives of African fighters.

In other major bouts, Yusuf Adeniji defeated Rilwan Lawal via unanimous decision in a super-featherweight clash, with the judges scoring the bout 79-72, 78-73, and 78-73.

Michael Babalola maintained his undefeated professional record by securing a unanimous decision victory over Abidemi Rabiu, while Shiloh “Sugar Shy” Defreitase put on a clinical display to earn a unanimous decision win against Ghana’s Eric “Kojo” Quarm in their welterweight matchup.

Dr. Ezekiel Adamu, the initiator of Chaos in the Ring and Group Managing Director of Balmoral Group, reiterated the event’s core mission to elevate continental talent. “Africa has never lacked talent. What we’ve lacked is a platform,” Adamu remarked, highlighting the vision driving the brand’s global expansion.

Chaos in the Ring has grown into a global sports entertainment property, accumulating over 2 billion video views and 4.2 billion digital impressions to date. Broadcast internationally via DAZN, the event enjoys strong corporate backing from major brands including Bet9ja, EV Automobiles, Bank of Industry (BOI), Octerra Capital, Fearless Energy Drink, GIG Logistics, Amstel Ultra, and GMB Luxury.
