Biafra: ‘Nnamdi Kanu in prison for fighting for his people’ – Lawyer

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Aloy Ejimakor, the Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said the agitator is serving a life imprisonment sentence for fighting for his people.

Ejimakor said Kanu is not in detention because he bought a house in Kenya or for infidelity but because he chose to fight for his people.

Posting on X, he cautioned critics to be weary of the kind of defamatory remarks they make against Kanu.

Ejimakor threatened legal actions against those making defamatory remarks against Kanu.

He wrote: “Legal Notice: Some people need to be reminded that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is in prison for fighting for his people, not for allegedly buying a house in Kenya or for infidelity.

“So, before uttering your next defamation against him, think twice because muscular legal actions will ensue.”

In June 2021, the IPOB leader was arrested in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition back to Nigeria.

Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment following his trial for terrorism.

He is currently serving his sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre.
