The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced a six-hour power outage in parts of Abuja on Tuesday.
TCN disclosed this in a statement on Monday, explaining that the outage would result from annual maintenance at its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation.
According to the Federal Government-owned company, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Consequently, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, will be unable to supply electricity to customers in Dawaki, Gwarinpa, Dutse Alhaji and surrounding areas during the maintenance period.
Other areas to be affected include parts of Kubwa, Arab Road, Bwari, Mopol Barracks, parts of Jiwa and environs, as well as Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Madalla, Zuba and surrounding communities.
“The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) wishes to inform the public that an annual maintenance exercise will be carried out at its 132/33kV Katampe 1 Transmission Substation on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, from 10:00am to 4:00pm,” TCN stated.
