No fewer than 20 children formerly associated with Boko Haram have been reintegrated into communities in Borno State after completing a deradicalisation programme.
The beneficiaries, comprising 10 girls and 10 boys classified as low-risk minors, received livelihood support and training in business management, record-keeping, savings and business improvement.
The Programme Manager of the Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development, Dadun Hamza, disclosed this on Saturday during the reintegration exercise in Maiduguri.
Hamza said the children received business materials after completing the training to enable them to start businesses, including welding, shoemaking, tailoring, food vending, fabric and shoe sales, incense making and grinding services.
He added that the foundation would monitor their progress to support the sustainability of the businesses.
Hamza said 20 vulnerable women-headed households in the communities where the children were reintegrated also received support to help promote acceptance of the returnees.
