KAMPALA — Veteran journalist Charles Mwanguhya Mpagi is set to make his return as host of NBS Television’s flagship political talk show, The Frontline, replacing interim anchor Simon Kaggwa Njala.
Njala confirmed the transition in a social media statement on Wednesday evening, announcing that his stint “holding the fort” will officially end this Thursday.
“Give my poised brother @c_mwanguhya his flowers as he returns to the most coveted show in the land, #NBSFrontline. My long tenure of holding forte stops this Thursday. Thanks @KKariisa and the entire @nextmediaug family for the opportunity. Be assured of my support,” Njala wrote, alongside a promotional poster featuring Mwanguhya.
The Frontline, which airs every Thursday at 10:00 PM, remains one of Uganda’s most influential current affairs and political debate platforms.
Mwanguhya originally took over the show in September 2021 following the departure of Joseph Sabiti. He temporarily stepped aside to pursue political ambitions ahead of the 2026 general elections, prompting Njala—a staple host on NBS’s Morning Breeze—to take over moderating duties.
While NBS Television and Next Media Services have yet to issue a formal press release, the promotional material and Njala’s farewell confirm Mwanguhya’s immediate return to the presenter’s chair starting this Thursday.
