Chelsea: Xabi Alonso hails Acheampong ahead of Brighton clash

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso has hailed young defender Josh Acheampong ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Brighton on Sunday.

Alonso said the 20-year-old understands his role and can play in different positions for the Blues.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the encounter at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, Alonso said of Acheampong: “For me, when he plays, he does so with confidence and aggressiveness.

“He has a lot of attributes for a modern defender because he can play in different positions, he’s good with the ball, and he understands his role.

“I have seen a progression in these few weeks we have been together, and he has played very solid games against Fulham and Luton.

“Josh is doing well, and we are happy for him, and he is happy as well.”
