The Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Dr. Abdulrahman Shehu, has vowed to reposition the institution, stressing the management is poised to raise the standard of healthcare service delivery at FTHL to deliver the mandate.
Professor Shehu made this known during the interactive session with the members of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Council in Lokoja at weekend.
He pointed out that within shortest period of time, the present management has put machineries in motion to uplift the tertiary health institution, noting this will ignite improved quality healthcare service delivery.
“The major priority of the management is the workers welfare, if the hospital must deliver it mandate the staff here must be motivated. Just recently the staff sat for the outstanding promotion examination and by the grace of God the staff are already enjoying the results with new salary scale with immediate effect.
“We have made it compulsory to conduct promotion examination by setting goals to serve as impetus to raise standard of healthcare service delivery in the hospital.
“We have not made ourselves armchair leaders. We have tasked ourselves on multiple fronts to move the hospital forward.
“We can make hospitals in Nigeria a replica of the hospitals in abroad by providing the realities into the consciousness of the workers. Everyone must own the hospital. If you see something going wrong you must say something”
Professor Shehu however sought for a stronger partnership between the media and Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja in bid to move the hospital forward.
